3ROC Locking Through Series

Want to expand your river navigation skills by learning to lock through one of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lock & Dams in the Pittsburgh pool?

Join 3ROC and Friends of the Riverfront on the Three Rivers Water Trail for a locking through paddle experience from the 3ROC Outpost in Aspinwall to Sharpsburg! We’ll depart from the 3ROC Outpost in Allegheny RiverTrail Park and lock through Lock & Dam 2 before finishing our paddle at the James Sharp Landing at Sharpsburg. Shuttles will be provided to bring paddlers and their kayaks back to the 3ROC Outpost.

This session is designed for paddlers at an intermediate experience level. All paddlers should have some experience paddling a kayak on their own and a basic knowledge of river safety.
