Aspinwall, PA Aspinwall Riverfront Park is hosting “Spring in the Park” a free event for families on Saturday, April 13th from 1-3 PM.

The highlight of the event will be the Egg Hunt, which will begin promptly at 1 PM, and is hosted by the Rygelski family of Aspinwall. Lucy and Grace Rygelski, ages 12 and 15, have spent weeks filling over 3,000 eggs to get ready for the event. “Spring in the Park is a collective effort. We do it because it’s a tradition that is special to us and we enjoy it. It started as a labor of love for the girls when they were little and now it has become their event that we help with. The best part truly though is connecting with families. Very few events are free anymore. Families can come as they are without any expectation to spend money. Spring in the Park is just a great day to get together as a community. It’s the first big event of the season as it starts to warm up outside. And families like the event because it has a very “Mayberry” nostalgia to it, just like the annual Memorial Day parade,” said Beth Rygelski. This will mark the second time the Rygelskis have hosted this at Aspinwall Riverfront Park.

“From the beginning, we’ve been thrilled that so many children have been involved in creating Aspinwall Riverfront Park and making it such a success. It’s wonderful to see kids like Lucy and Grace Rygelski give back to their community in such a fun and creative way,” said Aspinwall Riverfront Park Founder Susan Crookston. “Our mission is to be a community treasure and events like these are very meaningful to us and core to what we hope to contribute to the community.”

In addition to the Egg Hunt, the event will feature food for purchase, a bouncy house, the music of DJ Ron Hopkinson, miniature goats from Root and Heart Farm to pet, and a craft.
