Our award-winning park is located on the Allegheny River in the Borough of Aspinwall at 285 River Avenue and is open from sunrise to sunset every day.
While the public park space is currently 10 acres, ARP recently purchased an additional 6 acres that will soon be added to the footprint. Park management emphasizes that this new property will not immediately be available to the public as a planning process has to be completed and initial work undertaken to transform the acres into usable parkland. This momentous acquisition will open up tremendous opportunities to grow the park’s resources and expand the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and the Great Allegheny Passage. ARP offers a unique opportunity for people to enjoy a variety of activities in a beautiful riverfront location and aspires to continue to reflect an identity that is inclusive to everyone and welcome a larger, regional community.
Amenities include a fishing dock, dog park, marina, native gardens, music venue, playground, bike loop, and walking trails. The open-air welcome center, with public restrooms, hosts numerous classes and programming and we will host Winchester Thurston School’s Summer Camps in 2021. The park regularly offers free music events and has been able to offer summer kayak rentals in the past with the hope of restarting this program in the future. ARP also provides the opportunity to enjoy a meal at the riverfront with seasonal food trucks and with our partner Farmer x Baker. Other partners include JPC Event Group, Kindermusik by Lynda, Fox Chapel Area Crew Team, and Riverfront Theater Company. ARP plans to complete the paving of the entrance in spring of 2021 in cooperation with Aspinwall Borough. Allegheny RiverTrail Park is a Pennsylvania State Certified Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) corporation, unaffiliated with any municipality and governed by a board of directors. The park receives no taxpayer dollars.
