Standing Crane Tai Chi

October 30, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$10 – $80

According to the Mayo clinic, “If you’re looking for a way to reduce stress, consider tai chi (TIE-CHEE). Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.”

Tai Chi originated in ancient China and is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and with regular classes and practice, can soon deliver its numerous health benefits.

The essential principles include integrating the mind with the body; control of movements and breathing; generating internal energy, and mindfulness.

The ultimate purpose of tai chi is to cultivate the qi or “life energy” within us to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. Total harmony of the inner and outer self comes from the integration of mind and body, empowered through healthy qi through the practice of tai chi.

We use Dr. Lam’s, Tai Chi for Health programs, which have been developed over years of careful study and practice.  Dr. Lam is a retired medical doctor and is also a tai chi master.  He has modernized tai chi incorporating both his expertise in the ancient art of tai chi and his medical knowledge to help deliver the associated health benefits more quickly.

Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Health programs have been endorsed by the National Arthritis Foundation and the Center For Disease Control (CDC).  His programs have been taught to and have helped over 8 million people worldwide and Dr. Lam has now traveled over 1 million miles teaching his methods of instruction.
