Legendary Pittsburgh rocker Joe Grushecky will hit the stage Friday in Aspinwall for an evening of blues and soul sure to get audiences movin’ in their seats.

The concert is part of the Rock the River series, the park’s annual summer shows, aimed at bringing stellar musical performances to the region in a natural setting.

“These family-friendly community events create a chance to give back to our supportive park visitors by inviting them to relax and enjoy a free live show by the river,” said Katie King, event and facility coordinator.

Joe Grushecky and his band, the Houserockers, will begin the show at 7 p.m.

A staple of the Pittsburgh music since the 1970s, the band is gearing up to mark 50 years of playing together.

They are best known for gritty steel anthems and a long collaboration with Bruce Springsteen.

“Grab a blanket, a bottle of wine and join us for some of the best bands in the ‘Burg,” King said.

Allegheny RiverTrail Park includes 16 acres, walking trails, native gardens and a public fishing pier.

Trish Klatt, vice president of ARP Board, said ‘our mission from the very beginning has been to create a community treasure that can be used by everyone in the region.”

The concert series is a chance to bring free programming and events to the park, King said.

“With our riverfront view, marina, fishing dock and many more unique amenities, we want to share all we have to offer and allow it to be a creative, rejuvenating experience to all that visit,” she said.
